Optimet's state-of-the-art Dental CAD/CAM Scanner, developed and manufactured by Optimet for dental CAD/CAM applications, provides 3-D accurate scans for an extensive range of dental objects and products including cast models (gypsum), single to multi unit implant bridge cases, individualized abutments, wax-up's and impressions (full jaw) in high accuracy.
The Dental Scanner integrates Optimet's patented conoscopic holography measurement technology and has unprecedented scanning capabilities of complex geometries, including undercut coverage and double sided coverage (360°) for dental CAD/CAM based products.
The accurate 3D digital data allows high level design and CNC manufacturing of dental restorations in CAD/CAM procedures with advanced and esthetic materials.
The Dental Scanner is marketed globally by Nobel Biocare, the world leader in innovative dental restorations and implants, under Procera™, together with a prosthetic design software package.
The Dental scanner, marketed under Procera™, is a desktop scanner with capability to scan objects in a volume of up to 80X80X30mm.
A modular holder and dedicated jigs enable easy mounting of dental objects such as gypsum casts, wax models, implant cases and frameworks, impression trays and more.
The scanner provides very accurate position data of one or multiple dental implants as an STL file, cloud of points and vectors.
By special registration on the holder jigs, the scanner software
automatically combines scans from two sides of the object and provides full mapping of
the object from 360°.
The scanner setup is done by a video camera and is operated by a standard PC
or lap-top connected by one USB cable.
The scanner integrates Optimet conoscopic holography measurement technology together with a special optical multi facet technology in order to scan undercuts and concavities, such as in dental impressions, with coverage of up to 240°. The apparatus has oscillating capability, thereby creating a line for an accurate 3-D scan of the object with minimal movement.
The scanner principle enables 3-D mapping of the entire contour of an object, including undercuts, without moving the object in relation to the XY plane.
In dental CAD/CAM applications, dental restorations such as crowns, bridges, abutments, provisional restorations, implant based bridges and framework, are designed by a dedicated CAD software, based on an accurate 3-D scan of dental casts (gypsum), impressions and other models. The individualized restorations are then manufactured out of special advanced ceramic materials (Zirconia, Alumina), Titanium and other metal alloys by CNC machines.
The 3D data used for planning dental objects is obtained from single dies, batches of single dies and wax-up replicas scanned with the Procera™ Scanner. The scanner can scan one sided or double-sided impressions with deep cavities in the front teeth.
Together with special software algorithms the scanner enables extraction of the positioning of implants at very high accuracy for CAD design and manufacturing of implant based frameworks and bars.
